ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Teammates and coaches gathered Friday night at the spot where Ben Richards collapsed Wednesday to lift him and Alex Washington up in prayer.

"I came out here and I just ask the Lord to touch him and heal him, miraculously just do his thing that he always does and just lift your prayers up for him," said John Callihan, wrestler, Darton State College.

"These guys are my brothers and I just want to help support them and whatever takes to help make them better, I will be out here to support them with that," said Corey Wilson, wrestler, Darton State College.

Darton wrestling Coach James Hicks says he is close to the young men.

"It's been a rough past couple of days for me, I have a good relationship with both of those guys, and it's been a rough go here," said James Hicks, wrestling coach, Darton State College.

Coach Hicks says heat illnesses suffered by Richards and Washington and a third wrestler who is out of the hospital will change his approach to coaching.

"We're always looking to improve, especially on the policy and procedure side, like I said safety is our number one concern, so it's definitely going to make us evaluate things and will definitely make the improvements necessary," said Hicks.

For now the Darton wrestling team is leaning on the Lord and hoping their teammates recover.

"We ask that you would the medicine to work, please do it this day, and God we promise to never forget the great things you're doing for us in Jesus name amen," said local Albany minister.
