Albany community leaders got to know the new top man at the Marine Corps Logistics Base Thursday night.

The Chamber of Commerce's Military Affairs Committee held a welcome reception for Major General John Broadmeadow.

He recently assumed command of Marine Corps Logistics Command headquartered at M-C-L-B Albany.

General Broadmeadow says it's vital for the base and the community to have a strong relationship, and he says tonight's event at Doublegate Country Club was a great way for him to connect with the people of Albany.

"This receptions overwhelming like I said this is pretty typical of what we're finding in the reception of this great community, it's pretty obvious MCLB has a great relationship with the community, out here, and the welcome Karen and I have gotten not just from the chamber, but the whole community is wonderful," said Major General John Broadmeadow, Major General, Marine Corps Logistics Commands.

General Broadmeadow previously served at Camp Pendleton in California and came to Albany in July.
