ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

The American Legion is getting ready honor victims of the September 11th attacks.

They'll place about 600 American flags outside the Albany Mall for the 11th annual Patriot Field of Flags.

146 white crosses will also be placed there to honor all the men from Dougherty and Lee Counties who have died in combat.

The American Legion says it's important to keep this tradition going.

"It's just something we must remember those men and women, their families, of the sacrifice they made for our country. And this is just a small way of trying to so that," said Marvin Mixon.

The flags will go up Saturday morning at 8 a.m. The legion says anyone can stop by and help.
