ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Turner County Sheriff's Deputies tell us the body armor they found in a stolen car after a chase was also stolen.

22 year-old Maurice Sanders and 20 year-old Alandrey Brown led state troopers and deputies from Turner, Cook, and Tift Counties on a high speed chase on I-75 a little more than a week ago.

The Subaru Crosstek the men were driving was stolen from Jacksonville.  Investigators found weapons, duct tape, and a bullet proof vest in the car.  Turns out, the body armor was stolen from the Griffin Police Department.

"These guys were...when they're running from you and they've got guns and have stolen a bullet proof vest it kind of makes you wonder what they have in mind, so we're just glad to get them off the road," said Sheriff Andy Hester, Turner County Sheriff's Office.

Investigators said the men are refusing to speak but remain in custody. They're running the serial numbers of the weapons through the ATF to check if those are stolen as well.
