More counterfeit bills turning up in businesses

Posted: Updated:

Valdosta Police are investigating an increase in counterfeit money circulating through Valdosta businesses.

Last week, three stores in the same plaza, TJ Maxx, Toys R Us, and Michaels, all reported receiving fake $100 bills.

Investigators believe the purchases were made by the same people. Valdosta Police are working with the Secret Service on these and other cases.

"The same person or persons, we don't know if it was a group of people or just one person, it's a possibility they were going from store to store using the counterfeit money they had," said Lt. Aaron Kirk, VPD.

If you have any information on counterfeiting, Valdosta Police ask you to call them at 293-3145.
