ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Come springtime, veterans will have new, improved healthcare services in Albany.

Veterans Administration officials announced the Albany V. A. clinic is expected to be moved from its current 526 West Broad Avenue location aboard MCLB by spring 2014.

The announcement was made first to veterans during their monthly retiree breakfast Wednesday morning.

Officials say their commitment with this move is to provide higher quality health care services to both veterans and active marines.

"The same services that we offer downtown, plus we're expanding services to include things like Audiology, Podiatry, Optometry and Rehab Medicine," said John Goldman Director of the Dublin Veteran's Administration Medical Center.

"Sit down and ask the hard questions, give them a heads up. There's a lot of information out there that's not really accurate. So, we want to give them the skinny on the clinic, and think about how it's going to work. When we're going to open it and those kinds of things," Goldman said.

A current building on base will be renovated for the mental health services portion of the clinic.

Details on the reconstruction are expected to be worked out over the next few months. The clinic is expected to open its doors by spring next year.

There will be no disruption in healthcare services.
