DOUGLAS COUNTY, GA (CBS46) -

The Department of Defense announced a solider from Villa Rica was killed in Afghanistan supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.

Pentagon officials reported Staff Sgt. Joshua J. Bowden, 28, died Aug. 31, in Ghazni, Afghanistan, of injuries sustained when enemy forces attacked his unit with small arms fire while on dismounted patrol.

Bowden was assigned to the 242nd Ordnance Battalion (EOD), 71st Ordnance Group (EOD), Fort Carson, CO.
