DAWSON, GA (WALB) -

Family members who live in different houses on Doverel Hwy in Terrell County are mourning the loss of one of their loved ones here. Family friend Shirley Grier didn't want to show her face, but she is speaking on the family's behalf.

"I am, the entire community is, the entire community is shaken up about this," said Shirley Grier, family friend.

Investigators responded to a call about shots fired at 3703 Doverel Hwy in Dawson early Thursday morning.

"This morning about 4:15 we were contacted by Terrell County Sheriff John Bowen's who requested our assistance in a death investigation. Tameda Ferguson who is 30 years of age was found deceased inside of her home," said Kim Baker, Special agent in charge of case, Terrell County Sheriff's office.

Ferguson's life wasn't the only one taken in the shooting.

"That is exactly what it was, she was an expecting mother and she is deceased and so is her baby," said Baker.

Grier says Ferguson's mother is heartbroken tonight because she will never be able to see her daughter or her grandchild who was a month or so away from being born.

"Her mother said that she will never get to see her grandchild, she will never get to see her daughter again," said Grier.

Terrell County Sheriff's investigators hope to solve the case quickly.

"We always say no that we don't want this in the community and the way we do our best to make sure it doesn't happen again or to prevent it from happening is just continue keeping the community safe as we can," said Baker.

And as the investigation continues, this family who lives on the long stretch of road say they are leaning on God during their darkest hour.

"Well I believe in God and I believe in his word and I really feel like things will work itself out in due time it will, we just have to keep the faith and stay in prayer," said Grier.

Praying for justice and relief from their pain.
