SYLVESTER, GA (WALB) -

Hundreds of people are expected to take part in a gun and sports equipment auction in Sylvester Saturday.

The Daniel Auction Company in Sylvester started auctioning off guns Friday morning. The auction has all types of weapons, including new pistols and rifles, assault style rifles, hunting shotguns and antique collector weapons.

Ammunition, knives, and fishing equipment will also be auctioned Saturday. Owner Jim Daniel says guns are still hot items for sale.

"[It's] very popular. Not only with the Sandy Hook and the infringement on our Second Amendment rights by our current administration and people," said Daniel. "There are just people that collect firearms.  And it is just a right and just a thing that a lot of people do."

The Gun and Sports Equipment Auction will continue at Daniel Auction at 116 East Kelly Street in Sylvester starting at 10 a.m.

You can preview the merchandise starting at 8 a.m. Saturday.
