ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

An Albany neighborhood is asking for help to clean up one of the city's landmarks.

Residents around Lake Loretta said they've been struggling to keep up with maintenance and trash removal around the park. They said the number of club members who clean-up the park has decreased over the last few years.

Now, they're reaching out to the public for help in restoring the park to its original condition.

"You hear people talk about what it used to be like in the past.  And they say great things about it, and how they have memories here.  And we want to get it back to where people want to continue to come here and just something this neighborhood can take pride in," said Grant Walker, Resident.

The city isn't responsible for the clean-up because the lake is privately owned.

Club members said they need volunteers to help residents trim trees and cut grass.

For more information on helping residents clean up the park, check out Lake Park Recreation Club on Facebook, or email lakeparkrecreationclub@gmail.com. All donations can be sent to Lake Park Recreation Club at P.O. Box 70924, Albany, GA. 31708.
