Albany leaders and residents honors Chief Judge Phipps

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -
Thursday night leaders and
residents gathered in Albany to honor a judge, who was appointed to the Georgia
court of appeals as chief judge.
The Dougherty Circuit Bar Association hosted
a reception tonight to honor Judge Herbert Phipps. He grew up in Albany, and
then attended Morehouse College in Atlanta to earn his bachelor's degree. Judge
Phipps then went on to earn his law degree at Case Western.
He's now the 25th Chief Judge of the Georgia
Court of Appeals.
"It's a great honor
to be recognized and appreciated by the people at home, the people that you
grew up around people that you developed your professional career around, it's
a great honor," said Herbert Phipps, Chief Judge, Georgia Court of
Congressman Sanford Bishop, Mayor
Hubbard, as well as other south Georgia leaders attended Thursday nights event.
