ASU student is looking to make a difference

Posted: Updated:

A South Georgia man who balances school and work hopes to make a difference in our community.

Vann Calhoun is a senior psychology major at Albany State who also started his own barbershop. Now, he's forming mentoring program through a non-profit organization called K-4-K.

Calhoun says he needs more mentors to keep kids off the streets and on the right path.

"Basically I feel like it's time for a change in the community as far as the youth, because if you bring the youth up better you will have a greater opportunity to push them in a different route to actually give them advantages that they never had," said Vann Calhoun.

Calhoun has met with the Dougherty County School Superintendent and hopes to work with the Dougherty County School system soon. For more information on how you can join his mentoring effort call 706-728-1751.
