Community watch groups join forces

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Saturday several neighborhood watch groups joined forces in Albany.

The Council of Community Watches Association of Albany-Dougherty County became official Saturday.

The council is made up of several neighborhood watch groups. They voted on officers and to approve the bylaws for the council.

The purpose of the council is to provide public safety and beautification in our area.

"I think it's a great thing for the City of Albany that people from all across the county have come together and said we're going to work together to make this a safer community," said Commissioner Ivey Hines.

The council will meet on a monthly basis. The next meeting is September 7.
