Our camera was in the courtroom this morning when a woman charged in a deadly Wednesday night stabbing appeared before a judge.
27-year-old Tara Harrell was arrested Thursday afternoon just hours after police named her a person of interest in the murder of 54-year-old William Jackson.
He was stabbed multiple times late Wednesday at the Dollar Inn on North Slappey.
Judge William Revel read the charges: "The offense of murder, which is a capital felony. And the offense of a knife or firearm during the commission of a crime, which is a felony."
Harrell was arrested Thursday just hours after police named her a person of interest in the murder of 54-year-old William Jackson. He was stabbed several times Wednesday night inside a room at the Dollar Inn on North Slappey.
She said little during her first appearance, but did ask the judge this question. "I am innocent until proven guilty, right?"
Revels replied, "Absolutely."
We learned today that Harrell is the girlfriend of Louis Floyd Junior, who's nearly 30 years her senior. He is in custody awaiting formal murder charges.
We checked and discovered Harrell had three previous arrests in Dougherty County between 2005 and 2009 the most serious being obstruction of an officer, but no history of violent crimes.
Now police trying to figure out a connection between the couple and the victim and the motive behind his violent death.
Floyd, Junior is being held until murder warrants are formally filed against him.
