Nelson acquitted of murder charge

A Dougherty County jury rendered a not-guilty verdict for Santarious Nelson Tuesday.

Nelson was accused as the shooter in the murder of Sentos Vicente in 2010 at convenience store.

Anthony Hill told an Albany jury that 19-year-old Nelson was the trigger man in the shooting death of 19-year old Vicente.

The state says Hill and Nelson robbed the Miscelanea Guate-Mex store on Radium Springs Road.

Hill pled guilty last week to involuntary manslaughter, aggravated assault, and armed robbery, and agreed to testify in the trial of his accused accomplice, Santarious Nelson.

During his plea hearing Hill said Nelson shot Vicente when the victim reached for Nelson's gun.

Nelson claims that he was not even there, and was with his family at the time of the murder.
