Dougherty County's District Attorney says Georgia's law against predatory lending is working.
Greg Edwards says lenders that prey on struggling people through sky high interest rates aren't nearly as big a problem as they used to be.
However, out of state companies continue to take advantage of people through the internet.
The state attorney general filed a suit against two companies he says continues to target Georgians, violating a state law prohibiting lenders from offering payday loans over the Internet.
"Well we're working with them to have had great success in the past with dealing with predatory lenders in Georgia , so we're trying to continue with that process with the people who are working through the internet to contact our Georgia citizens,"said District Attorney Gregory Edwards.
Western Sky agreed more than a year ago to stop offering loans in Georgia, but Attorney General Sam Olens says they continue to offer loans with interest rates of up to 340%.
