High water levels postpones river clean up

A non-profit group aiming to keep the Flint River clean is moving back an annual cleanup effort.

The second Kattalistt Clean was originally planned for August 17 and 18, but the group says it's moving it to October 5 and 6 because of high water levels due to all the recent rain.

Last year, volunteers pulled more than 600 pounds of debris from the river.

"High water gives low visibility high currents become kinds of dangerous, can't find as much debris to pull out the creek,"

After the cleanup, people can camp out at Chehaw and help clean up Lake Chehaw. Canoes will be provided for volunteers.
