Homeowners find house in flames after fishing trip

A home south of Georgetown is a total loss after catching fire Friday morning, and an old TV set is being blamed as the cause.

Fire officials say a home on Deerpoint road in Quitman County caught fire around 9:00 a.m.

The owners of the home told authorities they made breakfast and left to go fishing, and when they returned, saw the house in flames.

Fire investigators say an older television set is the cause of what started the fire.

The Quitman County Volunteer Fire Department responded to put out the fire. They say the home is a total loss.
