MILLER CO., GA (WALB) -

Patient's care is top priority for a South Georgia Hospital. Miller County Hospital is planning to recruit more nurses to take care of those patients.

More nurses will be walking the halls tending to patients. Miller County Hospital and the Department of Labor Bainbridge Career Center joined together to recruit some new faces.

"It just became more evident that we needed to branch out to find more skilled nurses and they were willing to partner with us and help us with that," said Karie Spence, Miller Co. Hospital HR Director.

The hospital's Human Resource Director says there are about 15 spots they want to fill with Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses and Nursing Assistants.

"Were looking for individuals that are new to nursing, that are not scared to try something new that are looking to gain some experience," said Karie Spence.

And for people with a little bit more experience, there's a spot for them as well.

"In our nursing home we are looking for people who may have some more experience because some of our residents do require more care," said Karie Spence.

Karie Spence says Miller County Hospital is in more demand these days as health care changes.

"Just in the last few months, there has been a tremendous growth with Calhoun nursing home closing earlier this year. It certainly affected the census here and healthcare in this rural area," said Karie Spence.

Spence says the hospital will be offering a signing bonus for RN's and CNA's who come on board.

Potential hires will need to bring their resume, current license to recruiting day, August 15 from 10-2 p.m. The career center is located at 310 South Scott Street in Bainbridge.
