ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

An organization dedicated to caring for children with disabilities received a generous donation from a major company in Albany Wednesday.   Procter and Gamble presented Megan's house with a check for $1000.

The non-profit organization offers respite care for children up to 17-years-old, but relies solely on donations to operate.

"So this donation actually makes the respite care possible.  It goes toward keeping the doors open as well as paying for respite care so that families can access it whether they have the ability to pay or not," said Nicki Wilson, Director  of Respite & Family Support Services.

Wilson said all the money goes directly to those in need, and will help pay for 10 days of respite care

"We've been supporting Megan's House for a couple years now, and we just think it's just so important...when you think about families with children in need, they need a break sometimes.  And Megan's House gives them that break, and I think it's just so important," said Vince Falcione, Procter & Gamble External Relations Manager.

Wilson said donations help the organization provide services to up to 50-families a year.  Megan's House is still looking for donors during October and November.

If you'd like to donate, call (229) 439-7061 or email enwilson@swga-easterseals.org for more information.
