ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

A 12-year old boy raised $500 for Thronateeska Heritage Center Wednesday.

Sam Buchanan organized the first Heritage luncheon to help care for the center's thousands of historical artifacts.  Buchanan has been working with the center all summer and presented the idea of a luncheon last week.

The executive director said the young volunteer's presentation was too good to pass up... so they coordinated a lunch with the Riverfront bar-be-que.

"You know, putting something together in a week is pretty risky sometimes, but we got over fifty people scheduled to be here today.  It's just a sack lunch.  Sam's gonna be here talking about some of the items in our selection," said Tommy Gregors, Thronateeska Executive Director.

Gregors hopes the lunch will become an annual event not only to raise money but to raise awareness of what Thronateeska has to offer and to showcase their artifacts.

If you'd like to make a donation to the Thronateeska, call (229)432-6955.
