Valdosta man shot in leg

Valdosta Police are working to figure out if a deadly shooting outside a convenience store is connected to two other shootings.

The most recent crime happened Tuesday night around 10:00 p.m.

A man was outside his home on Jane Street when someone came up behind him and shot him in the leg. He said he saw two men run off.

At around 10:00 p.m. Tuesday night a Valdosta resident was shot on East Jane Street, and Valdosta Police are trying to find out who did it.

The victim  told officers that he was outside his home when someone came up behind him and shot him in the leg.

He said that after the shot was fired, two men took off running east on East Jane Street.

VPD Officers and Detectives were quickly on scene, as were deputies from the Lowndes County Sheriff's Office.

The victim was taken to South Georgia Medical Center for treatment and is expected to be okay. Witnesses were interviewed and detectives are currently following up on leads.

The Valdosta Lowndes Regional Crime Laboratory is conducting Ballistics and Forensics tests.

Detectives won't give the victim's name, saying the gunman or gunmen still pose a threat to him.

Officials say they don't know if this case is related to the murder on West Gordon Street and the aggravated assault on West Martin Luther King Drive.
