The Albany Humane Society is getting a makeover thanks to some help from a national humanitarian group and national dog food company.
That Allegiant Air jet that made an emergency landing in Albany Sunday night, got back in the air late Tuesday night. The plane took off from Southwest Georgia Regional Airport about 11:40 p.m.
It had to stay at the airport to be checked out and have new emergency slides installed after 155 passengers evacuated after a warning sensor indicated a fire in the cargo hold.
There was no fire, but the pilots landed at the closest airport on their flight from Cedar Rapids, IA to St. Petersburg, FL.
No one was hurt, but the passengers were stranded at Albany's airport for six hours until charter buses were brought in to take them to their destination.
