Albany marathon nets $25,000 for terminally ill patients

The Willson Hospice House received a big donation Tuesday thanks to Albany marathon runners.

Organizers of the Albany marathon gave the Willson Hospice House $25,000, generated from this year's race.  Medical Director Lane Price says all the money will be used for direct patient care. They bought two ventilators with last year's donation.

"As people prepare for the end of life, we want them to live to the fullest everyday. And we'll use this money to help patients to do just that," said Price.

Price says they haven't decided what they'll use this money for. She says as the marathon participation has grown, it's allowed them to continue to improve and offer more services.

The marathon has raised more than $145,000 over six years.
