Airport officials hoped a second inspection would be completed Tuesday, but it's been delayed until Wednesday morning.

If the building doesn't pass, next week's scheduled opening for the terminal will likely be delayed again.

Inspectors say their July 25th inspection turned up 27 mostly minor violations.

Fire Department officials say inspections of new buildings are crucial to make sure people can escape a fire.

"If there is a sprinkler system, whether it works," said Albany Fire Chief James Carswell. "Emergency generators. All those things that go into allowing people an opportunity to get out of the building in fire conditions is the things that we look for. And we want to make sure they are right before we let people in."

Airport officials hope to pass the inspection and get their certificate of occupancy so passengers can start using the terminal next Wednesday.
