UPDATE: Autopsy done on woman found at motel

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

An autopsy points to death by natural causes for Britany Comerford, 25, who was found in a room at the Dollar Inn on North Slappey Boulevard around 11:00 Monday night.

Dougherty Co. Coroner Michael Fowler says that Comerford had open heart surgery in June, and that her death could be linked to that.

He said that her body showed no signs of trauma, but that a histology on her is still incomplete.

Comerford was taken to Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.

"She was having a rough time, but you know she had quite a few friends around the front. They were here and there, and they would look out. Her parents, they would call, because they had one or two phone numbers, and they would call and check on her daily," said her friend, Robert Green.

Authorities say the investigation into Comerford's death is ongoing.
