Crisp County Officials warn against computer scam

CORDELE, GA (WALB) -

An official from the Crisp County Sheriff's Office says that residents in Cordele have been targeted with a computer scam that can cost them hundreds of dollars and their computers.

Crisp County Sheriff's Investigator Ben Bray says that the scammers try to convince you that your computer needs virus protection before dipping into your pockets.

"After its all said and done you get your computer taken over," Bray said. "And you get anywhere from $300-$500 taken off your credit card."

If you feel that your computer and your online accounts have been compromised, officials say it is best to take it to a local technician and regularly change your passwords

Norton Anti virus, Avast and Windows Defender are known for being some of the more trusted anti-virus programs.
