Albany Airport Mgr. Yvette Aehle said Friday that they would postpone the move into the new terminal building for one week, because they did not get their certificate of occupancy in the final inspection.
In a news release, Aehle said "There were (4) life safety items that were called out by the Fire Inspector that Walbridge must still complete before we can receive the CO.
Walbridge is working to correct those items, but some of the subcontractors involved cannot be here until Monday, so a new inspection will be called on Tuesday. Most of them are coming from out of town.
However, Delta Air Lines cannot begin their mechanical and technology work until a CO is achieved. Their folks estimate that they need 5 days to complete their work once they arrive on site, so we are postponing the move for one week.
We will now move overnight on Tuesday, August 6 and begin operations with the first flight on Wednesday, August 7. We are getting the word out to the tenants and others affected by this move.
Because we do not have a CO, we cannot hold Monday night's Aviation Commission meeting in the new building. We will hold it in the current terminal's conference room. Architect David Maschke will be on hand.
