WG&L workers donate blood

Jimmy Norman, Light Director Jimmy Norman, Light Director
ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Albany Water, Gas and Light workers rolled up their sleeves and gave the gift of life Friday.

The American Red Cross held a blood drive at the WG&L operations center.   Workers who donated blood got the afternoon off to recuperate.

The utility hosts a blood drive a couple times a year, and they reached today's goal of collecting 50-pints of blood.

"You never know the blood we give might go to one of our best friends the next day.  Working on power lines, water lines, gas lines, you never know when there's gonna be an accident, and you never know when it's gonna be you that needs the blood," Jimmy Norman, Light Director.

Norman said he's been giving blood every year since the late 1980s and encourages others to donate.

Visit www.redcross.org for information about upcoming drives in your area.
