ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

South Georgia groups are coming together ahead of the beginning of the school year to help young students with free school supplies.

The Terrell County Sheriff's Office and the Family Connections team will host a school supply giveaway Saturday, July 27th from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Carver School gym on 1st Avenue in Dawson.

The Sheriff is inviting families in need of school supplies to attend.

 

In Albany, the Family of Faith Chapel is hosting a community gathering to crown their 2013 basketball champion, provide free food and drinks, as well as a limited number of school supplies for children headed back to school.

The gathering is at 1323 N. Maple St. from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
