ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

An Albany church is making sure youngsters will head back to school fully equipped and ready to learn.

As part of New Destiny Christian Church's vacation bible school, the church handed out school supplies to children in the neighborhood on Thursday.

The pastor says it's the church's responsibility to help when they see a need in the community.

"Some people can't afford it, and I grew up in a time where we didn't have a lot of funds, right now we're trying to help those like people," said the church's Pastor Bobby Mckinney.

Gillionville Baptist partnered with New Destiny for the school supplies giveaway.
