Georgia Power rolls out a new online feature

Georgia Power has unveiled a new interactive online outage map.

It's updated every ten minutes and lets customers report power outages in their area and track crews as they work to restore electricity.

Utility leaders say it will help keep customers up to date about what's going on in their neighborhood.

"Well we think it's needed just for customers, storms roll in from time to time or other incidents occur when power goes out, and we wanted to make sure we're able to give our customers this resource to allow them to track our progress, and find out when or how soon their power will be back on," said Brian Green, a spokesperson for the company.
