Mayor Hubbard holds work force forum

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

An official from a fast-growing part of the country shares his expertise in Albany on how to help our area grow.

Mayor Dorothy Hubbard hosted a Workforce Development Forum this afternoon.

Raymond Gilley, former President of the Orlando Economic Development Commission talked about how to improve economic development.

The Mayor says public events like this push the city in the right direction and help bring business to town.

"We are not going to be able to create jobs, unless we do some of the kinds of things we're doing today up front. We have our call to service initiative, which was a cleanup initiative for our city. We're making people understand that everybody has a part in that, everybody can play a part. The conversation has to center around what we can do now before the jobs come," said Mayor Dorothy Hubbard.

The Mayor plans to host a similar forum in the fall focusing on Downtown Development.
