Driving license renewal process going better, a year later

DOUGHERTY CO., GA (WALB) -

A year after driver's license changes went into effect, the process is running a lot smoother.

As part of federal requirements, Georgians had to start renewing licenses in person with two approved forms of identification.

A lot of people didn't have that paperwork.

That led to long lines and frustration at the Department of Drivers Services and at Probate Courts where many people had to go to get the documents.

Dougherty County Probate Judge Nancy Stevenson says it's a lot better now.

"so we're not having as many people the sheer number of people who are already frustrated because they didn't know what they needed now we're having people that are having trouble getting what they need," said Stevenson.
