ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Many South Georgians know her story and her voice. Now people all over the country are learning about a civil rights legend.

Rutha Harris was one of the original Freedom Singers. She's one of six people chosen by AARP to be featured in their Voices of Civil Rights stories.

Harris says she's happy to share her story with the world.

"You know it's a wonderful experience, to have been chosen out of all those people who were interviewed by AARP and to be one of the six chosen, that's a great honor," said Harris.

Her story is featured on the internet and a public service announcement airing nationally.
