ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

A Phoebe Physician was recognized today for his decades of service to cancer patients. Colleagues, friends, and family honored Dr. Charles Mendenhall at the Phoebe Cancer Center.

Mendenhall is a Radiation Oncologist and has been with Phoebe for 30 years. He made The Best Doctors of America list for three consecutive years. Mendenhall says he enjoys making his patients his number one priority.

"It's a privilege to be in a profession where you actually are making a living to take care of folks," said Dr. Charles Mendenhall. "To me there is nothing more gratifying than that."

Mendenhall says he'd like to see all patients be able to afford the same level of care for cancer treatment so they can receive an earlier diagnosis. He and his wife Kathy have two daughters.
