Two facing charges in Valdosta drug sting

VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) -

Lowndes County Sheriff's investigators have charged two people after they agreed to meet an undercover agent who they thought was going to purchase cocaine from them.

Authorities conducted the operation on Tuesday on West Hill Avenue in Valdosta.

Tamela Jones, 40, and Robert Boone are charged with possession of cocaine with intent to distribute and obstruction of an officer. Boone is also charged with use of a communication device for facilitating drug transactions.

According to a release, when the couple arrived, they were confronted by investigators.

They say Jones tried to swallow some cocaine when she realized they were with the Sheriff's Office, but she was stopped by agents. 0.3 grams of Cocaine was recovered.

Jones and Boone were arrested and taken to the Lowndes County Jail. They are scheduled to appear Wednesday in an arraignment hearing for a bond amount to be considered.
