CAIRO, GA (WALB) -

After an initial arrest in June, Grady County Jail Administrator Tim Gainous has been fired.

According to the Grady County Sheriff's Office, the jailer was fired Tuesday after he was arrested in June and charged with criminal trespassing and family violence in an incident with his estranged wife.

Gainous was found not guilty in the family violence charge and the Grady County State Court will hear the criminal trespass charge at a later date.

He was named Jail Administrator on January 1, 2005.

Grady County Sheriff Harry Young promoted Assistant Jail Administrator John Walton to replace Gainous.

Walton has been with the Sheriff's Office for 22 years.

Meanwhile, Gainous has not lost his peace officer certification.
