Tropical Depression #4 has formed in the Atlantic. The First Alert Weather Forecast Team continues to stay ahead of the storm - bringing you constant forecast updates on track, position and forecasting.

LATEST ON TD4: Located a couple hundred miles southwest of the Cape Verde Islands this storm has continued to show signs of organization.  Wind speeds are estimated to be just below Tropical Storm thresholds (39mph).

TRACK FORECAST: Computer models are consistent in keeping TD4 on a westward track over the open Atlantic over the next few days.  This system is expected remained organized as it approaches drier air and somewhat cooler waters in the coming days.  This forecast track is one that has the potential to impact the United States.

INTENSITY FORECAST: The storm, while anticipated to slowly strengthen, will encounter the aforementioned dry air and cooler water through Friday.  Although this will keep the storm weak, most of the major weather forecast models hold it together well enough to perhaps strengthen as it approaches the Caribbean.

HOW WILL IT AFFECT NORTH CAROLINA? At this point it is too early to accurately forecast potential impact with our area.
