Harrison Sanford anchors Sports on the weekends for WALB and also reports news throughout the week. He is originally from Westbury, New York but has become a fan southern hospitality.
Harrison graduated from Cornell University in 2010 in Communication Studies and earned a minor in Applied Economics and Management. Most recently, he operated as a Production Assistant for Comcast SportsNet in Houston, TX.
Prior to that, he spent a year reporting national high school basketball and college recruiting for Five Star Basketball. Out of school, he held production roles at News 12 Long Island and St. John's University Athletics. At Cornell, he was on the editorial staff of the Cornell Daily Sun, the nation's longest running independent student-run newspaper.
Harrison also interned at WCBS-TV and WFAN 660 Sports Radio in New York City.
Harrison's love for journalism started at a young age. His passion particularly sparked when he won an essay writing contest that earned him press credentials to be a reporter at the 2003 NBA Draft. Since then he has broken a handful of national college recruitment stories and covered training camps for the Giants, Jets, the 2004 NBA Draft, the 2012 McDonald's All-American game among others.
Now, he is happy to realize his dream of working on air and excited to bring some of the best stories in sports and news to Southwest Georgia.
When he isn't working, Harrison likes to watch a handful of television series, talk to his two younger brothers or play basketball (preferably indoors!).
