Colquitt Co. man denied bond after standoff involving baby

COLQUITT CO., GA (WALB) -

A Colquitt County man accused of threatening family members and aggressively handling his newborn baby remains behind bars Saturday night.

29 year-old Sean Eric Casteel was arrested Tuesday night after a stand-off with deputies. Colquitt County sheriff's investigators say he threatened to kill his wife and mother with a knife at their home on Puck's Lane in Moultrie.

His mother was able to escape and called for help. Investigators say when deputies arrived he was holding his 29 day-old baby and refused to give the child up.  Deputies say Casteel was becoming aggressive and they surrounded and tased him, safely recovering the baby.

Casteel is charged with one count of kidnapping, two counts of terroristic threats and three counts of aggravated assault.  He is facing additional charges and he was denied bond.

Investigators say there is no clear motive.
