DAWSON, GA (WALB) -

The George Zimmerman not guilty verdict has outraged many across the country, even here in South Georgia. Civil rights leaders are calling for rallies to press for civil rights charges against Zimmerman in the murder of Trayvon Martin. Dawson, Georgia led a march of their own.

Protesting through the streets of Dawson, folks are banning together demanding justice for the slain teen Trayvon Martin.

"Why? There was no justice and there is no justice," said organizer Toschie McKibbins.

Last week, a jury in Sanford, Florida, found neighborhood watch volunteer George Zimmerman not guilty in the killing of 17 year-old Trayvon Martin.

Some say the verdict wasn't fair. Hearing ‘not guilty' doesn't sit well with some in this south Georgia town.

"I still think the case needs to further investigation and who better to investigate it than Eric Holder and the Justice Department," said Ezekiel Holley, Terrell County NAACP President.

By protesting and marching, the people here Saturday want to send a message loud and clear that justice needs to be served.

They marched to the court house steps and ended with prayer and speeches. Demonstrations like these are happening nationwide. These 100 or so citizens feel they're not doing this in vain.

"Even though were from a small community, I'm praying that they hear our voice," said Toschie McKibbins.

"I have three Trayvon Martin's and it's very important that they know that it is still some racism here in America," said LaShiria Rogers.

And organizers aren't going to stop fighting for justice. They say more will be done to bring criminal civil rights charges against Zimmerman.

"We're not going home and just say this is it. We're actually going to come together again to let the people know that were not backing off. That were actually going to stand our ground," said Toschie McKibbins.

Protestors say they want the laws of Stand your Ground to change so they can protect everyone.

A Candle Light Vigil for Trayvon Martin is planned for Saturday at 8:30 p.m. in Blakely at the Early County Court House.
