DOUGLAS, GA (WALB) -

A Georgia state representative from Coffee County is charged with driving under the influence for a second time in three months.

Representative Chuck Sims,  a Republican from Ambrose, was stopped by Douglas Police just before 2 a.m. on Georgia Hwy. 32.

Police say they observed Sims come to a stop at a green traffic light on Bowens Mill Road. Sims then turned onto Georgia Hwy. 32, and police followed his car and pulled him over after observing him weaving between lanes.

Sims was booked into the Coffee County jail and released on bond.

He is also currently waiting trial in state court after pleading not guilty to a DUI charge in April.

Sims was first arrested for DUI in Atlanta in 2010, but that charge was dropped and Sims pleaded guilty to reckless driving.

He has been a member of the Georgia General Assembly since 1997.
