Secret Service charges Albany postal carrier

An Albany postal carrier is facing charges after the U.S. Secret Service says he was stealing mail.

Nathaniel M. Johnson has been charged with theft of mail by postal employee and obstruction of correspondence. Authorities believe he was stealing federal checks that he was supposed to deliver.

Johnson was also named in a six count federal indictment handed down July 10. Authorities say he stole at least twelve pieces of mail.

Secret Service agents, along with U.S. Postal Service and Inspector General agents investigated the case and made the arrest.

Officials say Johnson is a 28 year employee of the Postal Service.
