THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) -

A Thomas County Superior Court Judge sentenced a man to life in prison for the brutal murder of his wife last year.

56-year old William Knight was sentenced by Judge Harry Altman after he entered a guilty plea for stabbing and killing his estranged wife 52-year-old Shirley Knight.

He will be eligible for parole after he has served 30 years.

We broke the story last October that the killing was the result of domestic violence.

She was killed inside her bookkeeping office and her husband was arrested in Cordele just a few hours after her body was discovered.

Knight was pulled over driving his wife's Mercedes Benz. He remains in the Thomas County Jail.
