VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) -

Valdosta detectives arrested and charged two people Wednesday night near Savannah in connection with the death of Robert Pett.

Michael Pindling, 22, and Deron Wallace, 21, both face murder charges according to Valdosta Police. The two suspects were found in the Savannah area and arrested by Georgia State Patrol and Port Wentworth Police near the Georgia and South Carolina state line.

"They were found on 1-95," said Valdosta Police Capt. Bobbi McGraw. They were actually in transit, in route back south. A be on the lookout was put out, what's called a BOLO, a bolo was put out. Also Georgia State Patrol was contacted that they were coming back into the state of Georgia."

Pett, 22, was found dead behind an abandoned home on Walnut Street Saturday night in Valdosta.

Valdosta Police say both suspects knew Pett, and had been in the Valdosta area for about a month.

The night Pett died, neighbors said they heard multiple gunshots, but didn't see anything.  Pett did not live in the neighborhood where it happened.

Authorities also executed a search warrant at a home that had been occupied by the suspects in Valdosta, where they found more evidence related to the case.

Officials have not released how Pett died, but said in a release that forensic ballistic specialists from the Valdosta-Lowndes Regional Crime Laboratory collected and analyzed evidence in the case.

Additional charges against the two suspects are pending.
