TRAVELERS REST, SC (FOX Carolina) -
An Upstate woman has been cited on eight counts in connection with the 144 dogs that were seized from her property, according to Greenville County deputies.
The woman has been charged with running a puppy mill, one count of animal cruelty, two counts of unlawful conditions and four counts of failure to display rabies vaccination tags, according to Deputy Bob Mihalic.
The woman, Lindsey Linstrom, told FOX Carolina that she is not running a puppy mill, and that the dogs are well taken care of.
Linstrom told FOX Carolina that she did not know why they were taking her dogs away from her, and that the deputies were taking away her livelihood.
Deputies said the citation for running a puppy mill, and animal cruelty each carry up to a $1,000 fine and/or 30 days in jail.
The animals will not be up for adoption anytime soon, according to sources at the animal shelter, where the dogs were taken.
