ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

An Albany woman says she'll run for a spot on the city commission. Cheryl Calhoun will publicly kick off her campaign for the Ward 3 seat Tuesday July 23rd at 11:00 a.m. at the Government Center on Pine Avenue. 

Calhoun says she'll address ways to create economic development, improve education, and stop violence. She believes the city of Albany deserves a strong spirit of cooperation and a focus on the future. Chris Pike currently holds the seat.

Calhoun is a graduate of Albany Technical College and is currently a Dougherty County School Bus Driver. She is married to Randal Calhoun and they have four children. She is a native of Sanford, Fl.
