LEESBURG, GA (WALB) -

A south Georgia woman is going out of her way to make sure parents are securing their children in their car seats correctly.

Leah Gillis believes putting your child in a car seat is important, but making sure the seat is safely secure is just as important.

Tuesday afternoon at the Publix in Lee County she taught parents how to do that.

"I personally just want to get out there with the parents and educate them as to appropriate car seats, appropriate when to rear face, when to forward face, helping them out, I even go as far as I've told parents I will meet them at a local retailer and help them pick out a car seat they would like," said Leah Gillis.

Gills is certified by Safe Communities to help others learn proper safety seat use.
