ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

The George Zimmerman verdict has sparked rallies across the nation, people speaking out in frustration about the acquittal.

There was a different type of gathering in Albany tonight. Citizens came out to voice their concerns as well as learn about the trial and how the decision was reached, from Southwest Georgia legal experts.

"Well I think it's good, many people are frustrated, they don't understand, many people are disenchanted with the process and I think it's always good for people to talk out their frustration," said Willie Lockette, Chief Judge, Dougherty Judicial Circuit.

The forum was not only for adults, kids are concerned as well. Timothy Chase-Hill asked the experts how he can avoid being in a situation like Trayvon Martin.

"I just wanted to know, if how they're going to help us be more defended from people who make racist stereotypes, say if I'm wearing a hoodie and I go outside they may think I'm in a gang or shoot at me or something," said Timothy-Chase Hill, student.

Chief Dougherty Superior Court Judge Lockette appreciates the fact that children like Timothy are asking these questions.

"I think that there are young people that are asking themselves, what are my rights? How could that situation have been handled differently and what kind of dangers or potential am I exposed to," said Lockette.

Timothy felt like tonight's event was extremely beneficial.

"I think it was educational for people my age and younger, it sort of helped understand the case for adults," said Hill.

And in the end help people know what to do if they're ever in a situation similar to Trayvon Martin or George Zimmerman.
